29 Jan 2008 PTCRC HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE DICK ALLIS
Our first inductee for 2009 attended college at Bowling Green, Ohio where he graduated with a Liberal Arts Degree in Business. He also participated in Air Force ROTC there and was commissioned upon graduation and sent to Craig Air Force Base in Selma, Alabama for initial pilot training in the T-37 and T-33. He was then assigned to Mountain Home, Idaho where he flew the B-47 bomber for a year until the Air Force decommissioned that series. He flew C-130s out of Taiwan for a year and then spent his final assignment on active duty at Langley AFB, Virginia, where he continued to fly the venerable C-130.
After completing four years flying for the Air Force, Dick was hired by Delta Air Lines, where he spent the next 31 1/2 years flying passengers around the world until his retirement in November 2000. Since then, he has dedicated much of his free time to working as the Expo Coordinator for the annual Peachtree City Classic. He also volunteers at and is a board member of the Clothes Less Traveled thrift store in Peachtree City.
Dick can usually be found at most of the monthly Grand Prixs as a volunteer. Many times he is the lead bike in races around town. He has spent the last seven years as the PTC Classic Expo Coordinator, which is probably one of the most time consuming Classic jobs there is next to Race Director. He has also been instrumental in assisting with the annual Kid’s Fun Run every year as well as obtaining door prizes for the event. For his many years of service, Dick received the RRCA Volunteer Award Certificate in 2008 and this year was named to the PTCRC Hall of Fame. Congratulations Dick!
