2023 PTCRC HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE MARK HAMILTON

Mark Hamilton has been a member of the Peachtree City Running Club since 2000 when he joined shortly after moving to Peachtree City. The Peachtree Road Race and the Thanksgiving Half Marathon became yearly pursuits.  As happens with most club runners, he looked for more challenges and more mileage opportunities.  He decided to train and run his first full marathon at Disney in 2001.  For his accomplishment, Mark was awarded Most Improved Male Runner in 2001.

He has completed several Disney Marathons since then. Other marathons he has completed include Chicago, Grandma’s, Rock n Roll Phoenix and New Orleans, Marine Corps, Space Coast, and Boston.  Mark ran his first Boston Marathon in 2002 and has completed six Boston Marathons since then.

He qualified for the 2024 Boston at the 2023 Disney Marathon where he finished first in his age group.  Mark is planning to run his seventh Boston in April 2024.

Mark has garnered numerous club awards since his first one in 2001 for Most Improved.  He was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2018.  He served a total of seven years as Vice President of Activities.  In this capacity he oversaw the monthly Grands Prix and the annual Summer Track Classic Series.  He has also served as Course Coordinator for the Classic 15K race for the past three years.  He was presented with the PTCRC Inspirational Award in 2022.  Tonight, he is also being concurrently awarded the Road Runners Club of America Volunteer Award in recognition of his over 2000 hours of service to the club.

Accordingly, in appreciation of his dedicated service to the club and by unanimous acclamation of the Hall of Fame Nominating Committee, Mark Hamilton is hereby inducted into the Peachtree City Running Club 2023 Hall of Fame.
