Rotary Grand Prix

2023-2024 Peachtree City Rotary Club

The 19th Annual Rotary Elementary School Grand Prix has begun!  We’ve got a great line-up of races for you, representing schools from across the county.  We’ve also included some non-Grand Prix events in our schedule.  Although they don’t count for Grand Prix points, we hope you’ll support those races as well.

How to register for the school races

  • For the public schools go to directly to the school’s website by clicking here to go directly to the school directory, or just go to the individual school website.
  • For the private schools same thing but just go to the school website. Each one is a little different but the info is all there. And if you need more info just call or text George Martin at 770-596-9890.

This is going to be another great year in the age group competition so don’t get left behind. Come out early and often with runners and walkers all in the same boat, getting back in shape for the new year!

About the Series

About the Series:  It is difficult to pick up a newspaper today without reading another story about the long-term implications of the growing childhood obesity problems.  Peachtree City and Fayette County are not immune from this problem.  Recognizing this issue, two active local organizations decided to take a positive step toward at least helping to resolve the problem in our area.

The Rotary Elementary School Grand Prix series of races began in the spring of 2005 with 5 races scheduled in a preliminary shakedown series.  The first full Grand Prix series season was the 2005-2006 school year.  The Peachtree City Rotary Club is the primary financial sponsor and hence the name.  The Peachtree City Running Club is the primary technical sponsor and will assist in the conduct of all races including the finish line, the timing/scoring, and the maintenance of the year-long winners’ database.

Last year about $100,000 was raised by the schools, and the series of races has become one more campaign in the fight against childhood obesity.

Peachtree City Rotary Club Elementary Grand Prix Race Series

(And other local, worthwhile, fund-raising races)

The Rotary Club of Peachtree City, in cooperation with the PTC Running Club has created a series of races that provide the opportunity for both children and adults to participate in healthy events as well as raising much needed funds for our local elementary schools. In past years about $100,000 was raised by the schools and the series of has become one more campaign in the fight against childhood obesity.

The annual Rotary Grand Prix awards luncheon ceremony

The awards luncheon is usually held at the Due South restaurant in Peachtree City, upstairs in “The Loft”, the first week of June in conjunction with the PTC Rotary Club meeting.  The lunch is free to all award winners, compliments of the Rotary Club of Peachtree City, and if you are 16 or under, one parent will also be treated to a free lunch.  Additional lunches can be purchased.

The top three award winners in each age category will receive a special custom plaque, with your photo on the plaque.  If you did not get your photo taken at one of our last few races this year, please contact me at the number below to make arrangements.
